The First Step

The first step is always the hardest is what I and I am sure plenty of us are conditioned to hear. I am not going to debate whether this is right or wrong as it really does not matter. Honestly. I think that the only thing that really matters is “taking” the first step.

I myself have been a victim of this first step business. I have been contemplating writing blogs about my journey into the world of bodybuilding and fitness from some time but I conveniently never found the time to really do it. A friend of mine has been egging me on to start with the blog for quite some time but it took a lot of egging to get me to take the first step. I finally relented today and in a way I am relieved I did so. I now have no excuses of not doing something that I really believe in and feel I should share my two cents with all those in a similar phase in life.

All that I wrote above leads me to the point of the blog “The First Step”. Most of us have at some point in time decided to get fit. All of us have varying definitions of fitness. Some want to have better bodies, some of us want to fit into old pants, some of us want to be able to run a couple of kilometers and some like me want to get more muscular. But all of us irrespective of our goals have one thing in common we all have to make a start; we all need to take that dreaded “First Step”.

I have read a ton of articles on transformations, people who have achieved their fitness goals, people who are today living healthier than ever before and all of these people have had a common problem. The “First Step”. These people talked about fear of failure as a reason for procrastination and I agree with them. Most of us really hesitate in doing the right thing purely because somewhere sub consciously we are really scared of failing. This is reality.

I am no psychologist and I don’t claim to have the answers to the “First Step” syndrome. All I have is a suggestion “GET UP AND GET GOING”. Sound way to simple to be that way doesn’t it but trust me it really is. Do what you want to now and not later and that will be your “First Step”

Trust me after the “First Step” things are only going to get tougher!
